A composed effort was required from Joe Public as the champions came from a goal down to whip Eagles United 3-1 to back joint-top in the bmobile National Super League, on Sunday.

Playing at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya, the travelling team, Eagles United gave Joe Public yet another scare this season after veteran midfielder Bernard McCall opened the scoring on the hour mark.

However, Joe Public worked its way to secure an important three-point victory, with goals from Brent Antoine (65th), Ellis Dyett (80th) and Rashad Griffith (90th).

Previous league-leader Westside Superstarz may have remained clear on top of the standings had the team not been stopped by 1st FC Santa Rosa, 1-1, at UTT O’Meara Ground, on the same day.

Guyanese International striker Vulon Mills gave the host a lead with a headed effort in the nineth minute, which held into the half. Westside, statistically the best attacking team in the league responded less than 15 minutes into the second half to salvage a point, which was enough to take it back on top with the 2011 treble winners Joe Public.

It was also a result which sees Westside remain unbeaten since its opening day loss to Joe Public. Westside also remains with a match in hand. Two matches scheduled for Sunday, Defence Force versus WASA and Real Maracas against Club Sando had to be posponed due to the flooding on Saturday, and are rescheduled to August 29.
