Last season’s runners-up Club Sando can join current leaders WASA at the top of the National Super League football competition with a victory today over Bethel United in Tobago.
Club Sando are currently second and have scored six victories and amassed 19 points, having played a match less that the league leaders. Their opponents Bethel are third from bottom and have won once in eight matches, but would hope to upset the visitors before home fans on the picturesque Mt Gomery ground.
On Sunday, Nigel Daniel, the former Trinidad and Tobago national team defender scored a hat-trick, as Club Sando outclassed Coosal’s Las Lomas 5-0 on Sunday, to keep pace with leaders WASA.
Daniel got Club Sando’s second goal, a powerful header to the far corner and also the final two as well. His second came from a powerful low shot, after picking up the ball at the far post and he completed his hat-trick with a close-up finish, after a combination with a teammate. Also on the scoresheet was former W Connection youth player Jesse Downing, who opened the scoring in the eight minute with a shot from atop the penalty area, while Kevon Woodley made it 3-0 in the 53rd with a header inside the penalty area.
Meanwhile, the league top-scorer Kerron Clarke was again among the goals and former T&T striker Stern John also found the net as WASA rallied from a goal down to whip Defence Force 4-2. Ronald St Louis scored twice for the Army reserve team.
