Coosal’s Las Lomas will be seeking full points today in an effort to avoid the relegation playoffs, when the Central club makes the trip to Guaya United in the last series of matches in the first round of the T&T Football Association (TTFA) National Super League.

Las Lomas United, sitting in tenth spot on 18 points, will need to climb up at least two spots at the end of today’s round of matches to stand a chance at finishing among the top eight teams.

Six regular league matches will be played today, before another two rescheduled fixtures on Wednesday brings a close to the first round. When each of the 15 teams complete their 14 matches, the standings will be split into two with the top eight teams playing a Championship round-robin.

The bottom seven teams will play in a separate group to determine the three relegated teams and the four to remain in next year’s competition.

Thus, even if Club Sando, leading by five points, finishes atop the standings by the end of Wednesday’s fixtures, it will still be required to start over and replay the second to eighth-placed team to challenge for the title.
