Bevon Bass scored a double as T&TEC ended debutants, Valtrin’s Cinderella run in the bmobile National Super League Knock-out tournament with a 5-3 win in the final at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, yesterday.

This is T&TEC’s first silverware since its debut last season, and will no doubt erase some of the memories of their defeat in the final to Economy Strikers in the final last year.

However, it was giant slayers, Valtrin, which took first jump, as it went 1-0 up compliments of a Dwight Critchlow strike in the 10th minute. However, T&TEC drew level nine minutes later from a Sylvester Teesdale’s goal.

The “Electricity Boys” then took the lead for good in the 21st minute when Anthony Noreiga found the net to make it 2-1. Bass then got into action, netting the first of his two goals in the 38th minute to give the utility company a 3-1 lead, which it took into the half.

Valtrin however, did not go down quietly, and reduced the advantage to 3-2, thanks to Nathan Lewis. But three minutes later, Brent Garcia dashed the debutants hopes, as he scored to make it 4-2, before Bass added his second in the 61st to make it 5-2.

Valtrin got their third from Gorean Highley in the 88th minute, however, time ran out on the Valsayn team as the match ended 5-3.

T&TEC, which has played unbeaten so far this season, will be looking to extend its lead at the top of the league standings, when it faces Club Sando, in Match Day 12 action at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, on Wednesday.
