JOE PUBLIC, the "Eastern Lions", have done the double in the 2011 bmobile National Super League by adding the league title to the knockout crown they won in September.

A 1-1 draw with closest rivals Stokely Vale on Wednesday at Plymouth recreation ground, Tobago, handed Joe Public the league title by a single point.

Joe Public finished the competition with 36 points gained from ten victories, six draws and two defeats.

Stokely Vale chased Joe Public for most of the season, the difference between the teams being when Joe Public benefitted from the demise of their now defunct Pro League team by adding Trinidad and Tobago national players Andre Toussaint, goalkeeper Marvin Phillip and Hayden Tinto to the roster.

Stokely Vale, who were edged 2-1 by Joe Public in the Super League knockout final, ended the league in second on 35 points. They also won ten of 18 matches played, drew five but lost three matches, one more than the champions.

WASA FC (29 points) ended third and another Tobago team, 1976 FC Phoenix (28 points), were fourth.

Wednesday's all-important clash saw Stokely Vale needing to win in front of the home fans to clinch the title. But after a goalless first half, Toussaint gave Joe Public a 53rd minute lead, before Tyronne Manning earned a point for the home team by scoring in the 75th minute.

On Monday, goals from Simon Nedd (20th), Andel Noray (76th) and Darren Mitchell (82nd) gave Phoenix a 3-1 win over WASA, but they could not overhaul the latter for third position.

Akil Harley (36th) scored for WASA.
