Four-time national and Port-of-Spain champion, Carenage Boys Government School, will attempt to register its sixth lien on the Port-of-Spain and Environs Championship Trophy, when they come up against Eastern Boys Government School this morning at Fatima College ground. The match starts at 10.15 am. The Carenage outfit, who is the West A champion, is confident of success but Eastern Boys Government has been the “Giant Killers” throughout the tournament this season.

The last time the two teams met in 2008, Eastern Boys looked to have the measure of their illustrious rivals and led 2–0 at the interval, only to see the champion pull back two goals to equalise in regulation time. Carenage Boys went on to win 3–2 in overtime, before going on to win the national title. In the Girl’s category, champion Patna River Estate Government could not make it out of the preliminary stage of the competition.

The former national, Port-of-Spain and West Zone champions did not finish in the first two in the West Zone. Therefore, a new champion will be crowned in the Girls’ competition when Carenage Girls Government battle last year’s runner-up St Agnes AC in a contest which is expected to be intriguing. Last season, Patna River Estate beat St Agnes, 2–0. This match is scheduled to kick off at 9.15 am at Fatima College ground.
