There is a new champion in the Tobago Zone of the BG T&T Secondary Schools Football League. Signal Hill dethroned Mason Hall as the title-holder with a convincing 6-1 win over Speyside away from home yesterday in a rescheduled match.

It led 3-0 at halftime. In winning the title for the first time in three years, Signall Hill was paced by doubles from Darryl Trim and Dareem Moore and a goal each from Shaquille Gill and Shaquille Joefield.

Lone scorer for Speyside was Ronaldo Summers. In the East Zone, El Dorado East completed its five-match schedule by whipping cellar-placed Barataria 4-2 to climb to second on the table.

The Blue Thunder, which led 2-1 at the interval, got all its goals from Shaquille Smith, who failed to score in the four previous matches. Netting for Barataria were Kirt Simmonds and Atiba Cudjoe.

The crown will be decided tomorrow when pacesetter, St Augustine engages third placed San Juan in its final match. St Augustine dubed the “Green Machine” will be playing only for a draw to retain the crown.

If San Juan is to grab the silverware it will have to win by at least six clear goals. Signal Hill joined St Anthony’s (North), Carpichaima (Central) and Naparima (South) as the zonal winners before the final round of matches tomorrow.
