According to police, Isiah Rivers left his home at about 1 pm with friends to bathe at a pond near his home when he got into difficulties while swimming and subsequently drowned.

Police reported that Rivers’ friends who pulled him out of the pond attempted to resuscitate him but were unsuccessful. Rivers was rushed to the Couva Health Facility where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Rivers was a Form 4 student who was a regular player with the school’s football team. He played for the school in this year’s national secondary schools football championships and was known as an aggressive and highly skilled player. Investigations are continuing.
