I saw this african dude from udinese absolutely sprint through the defense ... what is it about our covering that allows one man to go through the entire defense  from one angle?
You'd never see that with Man u and chelsea and the defense stand up and watch song chase the man down from midfield .. I say papa yo.
I hearing talk about hazard but im not sure he is the kind of player you need in the middle we need a creative spark a man who could link play to the forwards and keep possession a controller and we obviously need a defender .. I like the kid jenkinson he can play stopper and wingback.. we ned that type not so sure Samba would fill that role ...him against them speedy africans yesterday woulda get kill.
They need latas!!

That was Pablo Armero on the break. Yeah de man is a beast. Catch the 2 centre backs square. Schoolboy mistake on their part.

The player you are describing is Wilshere. We missing him bad. Arshavin is better at creating and shooting from deep but doesn't keep the ball so well.

Arsenal hire All Blacks mental skills guru- ex-All White Ceri Evans
Stuff New Zealand.

All Blacks adviser Dr Ceri Evans has been snapped up by English Premier League giants Arsenal who have hired the ex-All White as a mental skills specialist.

Evans - who was once linked to Arsenal during a five-year playing stint with Oxford United while a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University -  has been in demand internationally as a sports pyschologist since helping the All Blacks win Rugby World Cup titles in 2011 and 2015.

Fresh from assisting new world heavyweight boxing champion Joseph Parker, Evans once worked particularly closely with ex-All Blacks captain Richie McCaw and  featured in McCaw's recent movie, Chasing Great.

Arsenal superstar Mesut Ozil could be benefiting from Kiwi Ceri Evans' mental skills advice.
Evans, 53, a forensic psychiatrist based in Christchurch, has also worked with Mercedes Formula One drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.

Arsenal have now enlisted him to help improve the EPL side's mental strength - an area of weakness identified by the club's veteran manager Arsene Wenger.

Alexis Sanchez, one of the Arsenal stars who will be working with Kiwi sports psychologist Ceri Evans.
An Arsenal spokesman confirmed Evans' hire to London's Sunday Telegraph newspaper.

"We are looking for new ways to progress and continue competing at the top of the game.

"This involved every aspect of the way we work with our players and that is part of that continuous improvement. We will not discuss any detail of this work."

Evans was born in Christchurch and later moved to Nelson, attending Nayland College.

His father, Gwyn Evans, was a former professional footballer for Crystal Palace and later became New Zealand Football Association secretary-general.

His mother, Joyce Williamson, was a New Zealand table tennis champion.

Evans played in the New Zealand national league for a decade between 1979 and 1988, juggling his football with medical studies at the University of Otago.

He played 85 times for the All Whites between 1980 and 1993 and occasionally captained the national team and also became a karate black belt.

Evans earned a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University in 1989 and joined English second-tier club Oxford United, playing 116 games over five seasons while studying experimental psychology.

He later returned to New Zealand, settling in Christchurch with his family and working as director of forensic psychology for the Canterbury District Health Board.

Evans became a director of Gazing Performance Systems, an international mental skills consultancy,  but has worked independently across a number of sporting codes, including international rugby, football, cricket, Australian Rules and rugby league, including providing assistance to the Warriors.

He helped coach Canada's women's football team to an Olympic Games bronze medal in 2012 after being recruited by Canada's former New Zealand Football Ferns coach John Herdman.

A report on The Independent website said Evans practised an "anti-choke mechanism, which seeks to offer his clients a way of dealing with intense pressure and high stakes".

At Arsenal, he will be working with some of the world's best footballers, including German World Cup winner Mesut Ozil and Chile strike Alexis Sanchez.

It's time for Arsenal fans to face the facts.  Arsenal is just not good enough as a team.  The fact that they qualify for CL football year after year is a testament to Wenger's abilities as a manager.  Looking around at the footballing landscape, the "big" teams that qualify for CL have several options off their benches that can be considered like for like or top quality. Many have solid veteran players of much better quality than Arsenal.  Outside of Alexis (and Ozil when he feels like) who does Arsenal have that any top teams would go in for?  Even in the PL their quality is lacking by comparison to the likes of City, United, Chelsea and even Tottenham at the moment.  That team is lucky that they have Arsene making magic with them year after year with a barebones squad.  Only liverpool right now (of the top six) have a similarly composed squad and yet they seem to fight more than the gooners.  The players on Arsenal are just as much if not more accountable than Wenger for the absolutely atrocious results!

To this I would add that in recent years Arsenal has been lacking any kind of steel. Players who can help them grind out a win on the days when the pretty football not flowing, or lift the squad and drive the team forward when they are down. For that though, I would blame the manager.

Well manager definitely to blame for that because I don't think he wants or cares for players like that.  Wenger only wants to play pretty football, there is no plan B.  So when pretty football fails he will always look like ah imps. But Arsenal need some players with belly! Plenty of them fragile mentally I find.  For instance Torres @ Chelsea was suffering from a devious goal allergy but can anyone question his efforts, IQ, and constant attempt to put defenders off balance?  If Arsenal get blister putting up a fight, I think everyone would just say wow @ Bayern but them man look disinterested to me.

Chelsea vs Arsenal: Wenger's 1,182 nd match in charge of Arsenal. This thread is essentially the Wenger Forever Thread. The admiral has won 677 wins, 270 draws,  232 losses. Wenger has been in the post 7,658 days.

That leaves 3 matches unaccounted for ... suspensions, perhaps? Source: Andres Cantor of Gooooool fame.

(Only 2 English players on the pitch ... one on each team).

'People have been trying to destroy me' - Ozil explains why he didn't take Arsenal pay cut despite £350k-a-week wages
Stats Perform News

Mesut Ozil has explained why he refused to take a pay cut amid the coronavirus pandemic, insisting that there were many unanswered questions and that he had a right to "know everything" regarding Arsenal's use of the finances.

It was confirmed back in April that members of the Gunners' playing staff and coaching team had agreed to a 12.5 per cent pay cut to support the club during a financially unstable time linked to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Former Germany international Ozil was one of those that decided against a wage cut and he attracted widespread criticism as a result, with many pointing to his £350k-a-week salary and his status as Arsenal's highest earner.

And the 31-year-old has now broken his silence over the controversial decision, claiming that the Gunners didn't provide enough information relating to the request, and that he had significant commitments to his family and charities to also consider.

He told the Athletic: "As players, we all wanted to contribute. But we needed more information and many questions were unanswered.

"Everyone was fine with a deferral while there was so much uncertainty - I would have been OK to take a bigger share - and then a cut if required, once the football and financial outlook was clearer. But we were rushed into it without proper consultation.

"For anyone in this situation, you have a right to know everything, to understand why it is happening and where the money is going. But we didn’t get enough details, we just had to give a decision. It was far too quick for something so important and there was a lot of pressure.

"This was not fair, especially for the young guys, and I refused. I had a baby at home and have commitments to my family here, in Turkey and in Germany - to my charities, too, and also a new project we started to support people in London that was from the heart and not for publicity.

"People who know me know exactly how generous I am and, as far as I’m aware, I was not the only player who rejected the cut in the end, but only my name came out.

"I guess that’s because it is me and people have been trying for two years to destroy me, to make me unhappy, to push an agenda they hope will turn the supporters against me and paint a picture that is not true.

"Possibly the decision affected my chances on the pitch, I don’t know. But I’m not afraid to stand up for what I feel is right - and when you see what has happened now with the jobs, maybe I was."

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.
