It took penalty kicks for 1st FC Santa Rosa to advance to the semi-finals of the Under-16 age group in the Carapichaima Super League Football.
After playing to a 0-0 draw with RSSR Football Academy at Jerry Junction Ground, Waterloo, the Arima lads edged RSSR 4-3 on penalties.
Joining them in the final four are Cap Off Youths FC who whipped Moruga FC 2-1 at Waterloo Secondary School ground, with a Tyrel Sampson double, one a penalty.
Marcus John scored for Moruga. Trincity Nationals advanced by default over El Socorro United, but the other semi-final spot was won by Crown Trace 1-0 on a David Maloney at Frederick Settlement, Caroni Ground.
Now Santa Rosa meet Trincity at Jerry Junction and Cap Off Youths take on Crown Trace at Waterloo Secondary School in the semi-finals tomorrow.
In the Under-11 group, Cap Off Youths edged into the “semis” with a 1- 0 triumph over Central Football Academy at Jerry Junction, on a goal by Ronaldo Sookan.
Clint Marcelle Football Academy shut out Ralph Coaching School 3-0 in another match at Woodford Lodge with Rondell Roberts getting a double and Shomari Healy the other goal.
But after a goalless match, Crown Trace edged W Connection 1-0 on penalty kick at Presentation College.
Also at Presentation ground, San Juan Jabloteh beat Cruz International 2-0 with goals from Rahim Gordon and Stefan Marcano. In the semi-finals, Cap Off meet Jabloteh and Clint Marcelle FA take on Crown Trace.
Cap Off also reached the semis in the Under-13 age group after beating Marabella Family Crisis Centre 1-0 at Jerry Junction on a Ronaldo Robertson goal.
Clint Marcelle got a goal each from Carlon Nicholas and Christian Murrelly to shut out Tabaquite at Woodford Lodge.
But after a 1-1 draw between Cruz International and Glenford Thomas Football Academy, it was Cruz who advanced 2-1 on penalty kicks. Jordan Kangalee netted for Cruz while Keron Toussaint struck for Glenford Thomas.
W Connection also made it into the “semis” 2-1 on penalties after being held 1-1 by Crown Trace at Presentation College.
Jalini Noel netted for W Connection and Colin Wheeler equalised for Crown Trace.
Semi-finals in this age group will also take place tomorrow with Cap Off meeting W Connection and Clint Marcelle facing Cruz International.
