Real Maracas bounced Joe Public out of this year’s Emerald Apartments & Plaza-sponsored Eastern Football Association League Cup with a 2-1 triumph.
Isaiah Mejias put the Maracas men ahead in the 15th minute only for Kevin Caprietta to grab an equalising goal in the 25th minute for the Eastern Lions.
But just when the game seemed to be petering out to a draw , Kester Mejias hit the winner in the 87th minute.
Creek SCC slinked into the quarter-finals, beating Arima Combined 5-3 on penalties afte they were tied 1-1 at the end of regulation time.
Nixon Hills put Arima in the lead in the 19th minute, but Lincoln Augustus got the equaliser in the 32nd.
Upper Santa Cruz made it into the quarters on Keon Modeste’s goal in the 39th minute which was all that was needed to edge Carib 1-0.
But Malabar FC shut out Boss FC 4-0 in their match-up with Anthony Noel blasting in a hat-trick of goals in the 21st minute, 43rd and 78th. Jamal Jack got the other goal in the 89th.
Quarter final matches to be played today are: WASA vs Creek SCC at Wasa ground; Prisons vs TT Air Guard, at YTC ground; Real Maracas vs Upper Santa Cruz, at Maracas. Matches kick off at 4 pm.
