Three teams from Tobago advanced to their respective quarter-finals of the Atlantic Primary School Football championship as the battle continued to see who would be crowned the 2010 boys and girls champions.

At Shaw Park, Whim Anglican defeated Sangre Grande SDA 2-1 in the first match of a double header. Kellon James and Omarley James were on target for Whim Anglican while Jade Allman scored for Sangre Grande SDA in the boys category.

In the second match at Shaw Park, Aliyah Charles netted a beaver-trick as Montgomery Government hammered Palo Seco Government 5-2 to book a place in the girls quarter-final.

Charles was at her brilliant best against Palo Seco and in unstoppable form in front goal. Aliah Ashby scored the other goal for Montgomery. Shenelle Garcia and Felicia Salazar scored for Palo Seco.

Meanwhile, Mason Hall shut out San Fernando Methodist 2-0 at the Arima Velodrome to become the second girls team from the sister isle to advance to the last eight.

Jamelia Roberts and Latoya Assana did the damage for Mason Hall.

Quarter-final action starts today in the boys division with Whim Anglican taking on Tunapuna Boys’ RC at the Arima Velodrome. Also, La Brea RC will play Santa Flora Government.

La Brea stopped the Tobago dominance with a 2-1 win over Bon Accord Government. Kester Edmund was the hero for La Brea, firing in the winner in the 54th minute after Bon Acccord’s Che Richards (45th) had cancelled out Akinola Gregory’s 37th minute opener.

In the female division, Montgomery will square off against Dinsley Trincity Government while Mason Hall will take on Vos Government.
