Cap Off Youths and Las Lomas United secured places in today’s quarterfinal round of the Ramsingh Sports World-sponsored Central Football Association FA Trophy competition with contrasting first round wins on Monday and Tuesday at Hugo Francis Recreation Ground, Woodford Lodge, Chaguanas.

On Monday, Cap Off Youths needed kicks from the penalty spot to beat Leeds FC after both teams battled to a 1-1 draw with Ashmir Haniff scoring in the 37th minute for the winners and Susiman Phillip netting a 90th-minute equaliser for Leeds to force penalties where Cap Off Youths prospered to set up a clash with Edinburgh 500 last night at the same venue.

Today, Las Lomas United will come up against KC Perseverance United in another quarterfinal after its 4-1 whipping of Perseverance Ball Runners on Tuesday led by a Kareem Beckles double.

Anthony O’Garro opened the scoring for Las Lomas in the seventh minute but Seon Regis drew Ball Runners level in the 32nd minute for a 1-1 half-time score.

In the second half, it was one-way traffic with Beckles scoring in the 61st and 86th minutes before Kenlee Ramoutar banged in a fourth goal on the stroke of full-time.

Also last night, Harlem Strikers faced Enterprise Youths in the second quarterfinal at Woodford Lodge while tonight, Cunupia battles St Mary’s in the other last-eight clash.
