Good luck today T&T. Just tell your team to think of Bermuda as the Reggae Boyz. That will get them fired up enough to score some goals.  :)

to bad i cannot find them article on the internet anymore. ... in the final hex  for the 98 wc jamaica was at the bottom after 3 game simones went to england to seek new players  (strikers0.

"Seven of the 22 players on the World Cup roster figure to be Britons whose parents were born in Jamaica.
The use of mercenaries is common in soccer. But the citizenship issue has become a sensitive matter in Jamaica, which is the only Caribbean nation other than Haiti in 1974 and Cuba in 1938 to participate in soccer's world championship.
It is clear, however, that Jamaica would never have qualified for France if not for such imports as forwards Deon Burton and Paul Hall and midfielders Fitzroy Simpson and Robbie Earle. Without the Brits, the Reggae Boyz managed only two goals in their first five qualifying matches. Then Burton, whose shaved-head brilliance has led to comparisons with the Brazilian star Ronaldo, proceeded to score four goals in the next five matches and Jamaica secured its place in the 32-team World Cup field. Bwoy, uhuh T&T man bad mind sah! I cannot believe the level you guys will stoop to get the upper hand in a discussion. Now our players to France were Brit and we could not make it without yada yada yah.

All I can say, our roots as a people is not as shallow as yours. Childern born to Jamaicans in any country are still Jamaicans. That is what our Constitution says, not what the FIFA rules decide.

I hate to get into the petty squabble with you guys so let me stop.

so pick ah team that should have been there nah.........dere was a screening and d best players from the screening got pick.......but the question is does d best players get pick from a screening??........the answer is NO!!!!!.....so maybe dais why d team was that way....dey didnt select the best players in the tournament from the league.....they selected the best players from screening

an article stated  stated  players interested call so and so and show up  ..plus  the JA under 20 coach the JA team
Man, you guys are such sore losers. Jamaica was invited to bring a team to play the best of your schoolboy football. We brought a team and we can only play whatever team you put in front of us to play. It is surprising that no one was complaining about your team not being the strongest before the game. It is just after losing you can now find the excuse that this was not an all star T&T schoolboy team. Whose fault is that?

Moreover, what if Jamaica had national players in their team?  The last time I checked our national players were also schoolboys and therefore qualified to be selected to the Jamaica All Star team. :loser:

I guess Jamaica just won fair and square the right to be the next Caribean team to receive a beating from Mexico.   Congrats, fellow north caribbean neighbours.

Thank you sir, I will take it. Better lose to Mexico at the next level of competition than to T&T at this level. ;D

Anyway, better luck next time. Hope we will represent the Caribbean well.

Well, it's out now... I am surprised that Burns isn't going too....but its the adidas vs nike thing....Nike is making sure their contracted coaches only coach NIKE athletes, and Burns is adidas.  Not training together may be good, it may not.  Being next to Asafa every day has to help.  I hope he can handle being in Jamaica.

it is just like trinidad ah hear

With one exception. T&T citizens can feel at home in Jamaica.

all this ole talk about who is better is shit. the question is, can we beat them. the only thing that matters is head to head. in football, results against a 3rd party means absolutely nothing. England may beat JA 6-0 and beat us 2-0 and it does not guarantee a damn thing or even mean that we are better. and when heated rivals meet..form means nothing. Barcelona could be bottom of the table and R Madrid could be top...when the superclassico reach, all bets are off. it is the same for JA and T&T. JA always does better against the US than we do...because they know how to match up against the US style of play better than us..but when they meet us..that doh men crap.

Right now..we theroretically should beat JA. BUT WE HAVE NO BRAGGING RIGHTS...last head to head..they cut our arse. In fact, the beating us like is a joke in recent years..at all levels. So cool all this shit bout we make WC and we eh get pile up by England. T&T has done nothing to prove they can beat Jamaica. Anything else is empty braying to make ourselves feel better. Until we actually go out and beat Jamaica, they better than us. All who vex with that..too bad. Cuz if we had the record over JA that they have over us..we would be laughing at any attempt to analyze on paper why they were better than us. Sure we better on paper..but football is played on a field. It real simple...whoever win the next match is the better side..and will remain so until the next match..everything else is ole talk
Can I get an Amen!! It is good to see someone on here talk sense when it comes to the two teams.  It is also surprising that so much weight can be put on a meaningless friendly, where we took three days to bring our team together and prepare for that match against England who was like T&T finetuning for the World Cup. I am sure that under similar circumstances as us, T&T would not have faired better. You cannot read anything into the England/Jamaica match, as you will certainly be misled. As the good man Filho said, wait until we meet on the field of play. Over the past decade Jamaica has beaten T&T more than T&T has beaten Jamaica.  Apart from the just concluded WC, Jamaica has consistently out performed T&T in every aspect of the game, both at the junior and senior levels. We have been ranked above T&T more times than T&T ranked above us by FIFA in the past ten years. I also think that you would have a slight edge if we were to meet now, only because of the long preparation you have had and under the guidance of a quality coach.  Dwight York's leadership and experience in the World Cup also helped a lot to stabilize the team and give it some direction. How much longer will York be around to play that role? It will be interesting to see when we have to meet again. . .

5)Yes, Danny Maddix of QPR joined up with the squad for training, but Didnt quiete make the cut. I recall also another player called Busbie (Goal-keeper) actually trying out with the squad subsequent to France-98, but he diodnt make the cut. Players were normally assessed by Simoes before being invited to the squad.

RF, you are getting your wires crossed here. Busbie joined the squad for the 2002 WC campaign under Clovis de Oliveria, not under Simoes 1998 campaign. He was brought in because both Aaron Lawrence and Donovan Ricketts were injured and the third string GK Leon Gordon was lacking in experience. They thought Busbie would have been a better choice over Gordon, but it was not to be. Gordon went on to provide invaluable service between the sticks, thus relegating Busbie to the bench. Busbie never stood a chance when Lawerence and Ricketts recovered from injury and therefore daded out of the picture.

Roger Milla Cameroon in USA 94 at the age of 46. He is also the oldest goal scorer in World Cup history at the age of 42 against England in Italy 90.

Latas up dere but he aint dat old.

Pat Jennings also played in World Cup 1982 at age 37.

Football / Re: which player needs to have the biggest impact wed?
« on: November 14, 2005, 09:24:14 PM »
I would say Latapy as T&T needs to control the midfield and ultimately the game to win. Strikers will finish opportunities the more you throw at them. The striker however cannot do it on his own (or it is very unlikely he can).  Therefore, we need to have Stern and Yorkworking in tandem up front, while the midfielf plots and plugs and find ways to create chances for the forwards.

I thought Latas was dissapointing on Saturday. Hopefully he will have a different game come Wednesday.

KK is on the reserve team and is yet to play for the senior team...

I emailed the Jabloteh site and asked about Kelly and here was their response:

"Regards Keith Kelly - You may not be aware but when he was transferred to us he was not fit and to some extent is still yet not fully fit. We will continue to work on his overall fitness and speed as he recovers from his injuries.

He played farily well for 30 minutes in our last match (which we lost) on Sunday. He is quickly establishing himself as one of the better passers of the ball which will do well for his ability to fit into Jabloteh's attacking style of play. The challenges are evident in his defensive play. We expect that he will continue to compete for a starting spot and we will be monitoring his progress as we proceed."

Thank you for your feedback.

and he must be right there in the new photos they put up but i dont know what he looks like. jamaicans do not have any special look about them you know and you certainly do not look alike.
I visited the site but have seen no mention of him on the site. I am not sure I see him in the picture either. Here he is in two pictures froom the RBSC's site.

Kelly is a good little player I was expecing much from. But since his return from PSG, his playing days in jamaica have been numbered because of injury. It would be good to see him get some playing time in T&T as it would help both him and the club.

i predict some injuries for bahrain as a result of that match.

we yardie brethren go f**k dem up for we to finish off...not that we need de help.
There is nothing FIFA/CFU/Jack Warner can do to prevent Bahrain for example from travelling to T&T 2 weeks before the game and set up camp at a local Hotel etc. Likewise, there is nothing the JFF can do to prevent them from booking into a local hotel in Jamaica for 8 days from which theywil run an "acclimitaization" camp.

These statements are not entirely true Reggaefan. To set up camp in say Jamaica or any other country, you have to get the permission of the national organization you are going to be staying with. Remember thatduring our 1998 qualifiers, Simoes took us to Mexico to camp in preparation for the match with them at the Azteca and we were fined by FIFA. We were fined for two reasons, firstly we did not get the approval from the Mexican Football Federation and secondly, we ended up fighting with the Mexican league side Toros Neza or some name like that.

So yes, if Bahrain decide to visit Jamaica or any other country to set up camp, then need to inform and get the approval of the host federation, not just turn up and rent hotel rooms.

At least they had the courtesy to ask for much more money If they have to sell us out.. It didn't come cheap!

Actually the game is on! Jamaica has nothing to do with how T&T plays, you should just go and do your thing. It is really a shame that you all make Jack Warner get you all twisted up about sell out. Sell out of what? Read the interview with Shaka Hislop and you will see how an intelligent man approaches such subjects.

Boxhill is required to do what he thinks is in the best interest of Jamaican football just as we would expect the TTFF elected officials to do what is best for T&T football. A business decision made purely on business and not emotions is what is expected of our elected official. I do not see how that has anything to do with how you play on the 12 and the 16th.

T&T has the quality and caliber to put this Bahrainian team out of their misery. You do not need Jamaica to be throwing away business to give you the advantage. Your fans need to get behind the team and start supporting as if you know you have winners just waiting to explod on the 12th. Imagine, you comprehensively beat the world's # 6 ranked team and you turn to worry about Bahrain! You need to respect them, but not fear them!

Just go and take care of business and let the side issues slide. GO T&T!!!

You should not have the altiude factor working against you then. Monterrey is about a 1/4 the height above sea level. Monterrrey also has a population of about 1/20 that of mexico City.

Good to see you got your win over Panama. I never thought Panama was a team to be causing you trouble anyway, so I was not surprised by the result.

The match against Mexico on Wednesday should be a bit more of a challange. This is so because you will be playing at the Azteca beforee 120,000 screaming mexican fans. The effects of altitude, smog and fans always seem to overcome most teams. Hopefully, you will be able to come away with at least a draw. A win in this sport is never out of the question, so just keep focused.

Good luck and I will be watching and throwing my support behind you.

Go T&T!!!

Not exactly an all out NPL team Reggae Fan. Kansas City Wizards' Khari Stephenson was in the team. He was the only player who plays outside of Jamaica.

I think T&T should do better when they next play Guatemala. Not many people realize that playing in Guatemala City is really playing at high altitude. I think this had its effect on the T&T players as I do not think they are 4 goals better than any of the top CFU teams.

My team

                                    Ince

                                  Thomas

                 Sancho.........Pierre..........Rojas

         Edwards...............Spann.................Tiger

                                   Yorke

                  Stern                      Glenn

If Stern does not redeem himself within the first half, bring in Jones, If yorke gets tired, we can bring in theobald and angus can mabe play some role off the bench. Lawrence can make his way back to wrexham . I am getting a very good feeling about wednesday, I don't want to predict score but I feel we will get a positive result.

I like this team. Seems to be balanced in defense and geared for the attack. I like Shakka and know the guy from my days at Howard. I think though that in the interest of the team, he needs to ride the pine. Not getting any playing time at Portsmouth has certainly taken a toll on him. Ince who is playing in a lower league is seeing regular games and hence should be more match ready than Shakka.

That said, on paper you seem to have the tools to do the job. Lets hope you do not get stage fright and allow Costa Rica to run over you guys tomorrow.

Good luck T&T. Gwaan Warriors!!

Yes

OR

No

I say....No

Cyah get much lower than this.  He told the team this might be his last game as coach if they didn't win and they go out and give a performance like that.  If one was cynical and believe in conspiracy theory, one might even think de players sabotage dis game.

No need to delay the inevitable.  Get it done one time.  Ah wouldn't be surprised if Lincoln tek ova.

I'll say this in BSC defence.  As has been pointed out by maxg and others before....he took the job and all the heat that came along with it.  All de coaches who sayin dis and dat doh have de BALLS to do it.  Respeck to BSC fuh dat.  You tried your best.  Cannot ask for more than that.

I do not think any coach in his right mind would want to take over a team at this point in the proceedings. You may do better keeping BSC than try to bring in someone who does not know the players and the players do not know him. Remember the Reggae boyz lost to Panama with a new head coach who only had two weeks to settle. In his first game he did not use any substitutes as he said he did not know the players.

Getting rid of BSC now could be jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire!
