The fact is it may only get worse    depending on how much of the future story they keep. As a dedicated fan to the books and series I hope you all could hold on throughout. I expect quite a few ppl may become exhausted and stop following or may already have.

You know what it is FF, apart from no longer having a central new Stark-like character, another difference is that with season 1 you felt an actual build-up, crescendo/climax that season 2 and 3 has lacked. I think they should go back to that format instead of treating an entire season as one further step in the overall plot...if I explained that correctly.

But as a fan of the books, are you pleased with how it's been transferred/adapted to the screen? I know people usually aren't e.g Harry Potter.

What hurt season 2, and we've discussed this before was the stretching out of Dany's and Robb's stories, which moved very slowly.

The problem with season 3 now is that it is only telling half a book story so of course the natural build-up, crescendo/climax is lost. The producers have decided now to construct a season arc out of roughly half a novel

Oh yeah, there was that climax to Blackwater...but, I hope they do their best with the rest of the series - I'll still watch it.

I think the source material is just getting more challenging. They have gotten alot more budget as compared to season 1 and production is becoming more efficient. They still were not sure what they were doing with season one still feeling their way around.

The sheer explosion of characters and locations is just difficult to wield. This past season was filmed in 4 countries, many simultaneously. These 4 countries represent 11 groups of characters in 9 locations. That is dizzying. We ent even start to talk about Dorne, or Braavos or Oldtown. Father!! This was really an impossible task. The production is barely handling it.

As a comparison Season 1 was filmed in 2 countries and represented 7 groups in 6 locations.

I dodged this thread like a mofo 'til I saw the show.
Unfortunately the torrent I download gave insight into a helluva ending.
So when I see the mother scopsing everybody hard, I suspected. It reduced the shock for me.
I wish them torrent ppl could hull dey ass.
Khaleesi starting to look more bad ass now.

Well whatever the rationale... suffice to say it real shake things up.  One of the most shocking episodes in the history of television I feel.  Surprising how many hits the Starks thinking, relative to the other households.  Targaryen's lost Daenerys brother in de infamous "Crown of Gold" episode.  Lannisters lost Robert Barratheon (if yuh want to count that), and Jamie's hand of course.  Nobody else hemorrhaging icons like the Starks though.

I thought Ned's death was more shocking and disturbing than this.
We were more invested in him I thought.
I guess after he died, I was like expect anything.
