ROXBOROUGH Lakers scored a 2-1 win over St Clair Coaching School to inch their way closer to leaders Georgia United, who were held to 1-1 draw with Pepsi Hills United as the race for the Digicel Tobago Football Association (TFA) title continued to be a close one, following recent matches played in Tobago last week.

The win for Lakers at Montgomery pushed them to 19 points, one point away from front-runners Georgia, who are on 20 points from nine games.

Lakers, the 2005 and 2006 FA Cup winners, got a goal of their own from Grevon Crooks, while the other came via an own goal.

Lakers, fifth last season, have played eight games so far this season, and have won six of them, while losing and drawing one each.

At the Rival Bank Oval in Mt St George, hosts Georgia salvaged a point in a 1-1 deadlock with Pepsi Hills United on the back of a Warren Phillips item to continue their best run in the TFA campaign in four seasons.

Nigel Alexander netted for Pepsi Hills as they held on to seventh spot.

They have 12 points from ten matches.

Charlotteville Unifiers' miserable campaign continued with a 2-2 draw against arch-rivals and neighbours Sidey's on their pitch in Charlotteville on Saturday.

Unifiers are labouring in tenth spot on the 12-club standings, with just ten points from nine games.

They were victorious on two occasions; drawing the same number of games, while suffering defeats in five.

On the other hand, Sidey's sixth last season, dropped one spot to sixth, following their recent result.

Kirton Warrick and Kerwin Johnson provided the item for Sidey's.

Akim Dillon and Garvin Mc Kenna netted for Unifiers.

Defending champions Stokely Vale maintained their steady climb up the standings with a narrow 2-1 victory over Castara Retreats Goal City at Plymouth on Saturday afternoon.

Curtis Job-the league's leading marksman last year-and Dominic Mc Dougall were on target for the home team, who are in third place with 16 points.
