Uruguay didn't qualify but look at the kind of opposition they'll face next year.

According to the AUF Uruguay will face England on March 3 in London, France on the 2nd of June in Paris, and Germany on the 6th of June in a yet to be confirmed German city.

The matches will be used as World Cup preparation for all of Uruguay’s opponents and it is understood that the match against Germany will be the World Cup hosts final warm up game before they face Costa Rica in the World Cup inauguration match on June 9.

Hold up!!!!!
Wasn't it mentioned on another thread that all WC warm up games MUST conclude by a certain date prior to the WC? ....  or was that just one of Beenie's mandates?
If not, how come other teams sweating big games 1 week before the campaign?

hmmm..allyuh ent think we shoulda done the right thing as true supporters and bought the Trinidad & Tobago Team Specific Tickets(TST) when they were available for all at the time prior to our qualification..and then take the bounce of the administartion fee if we didnt make it in the end?

this tells me we all is a bunch ah waggonist too..me included..cause we basically jump on de bandwagon looking and begging for tickets after we qualify..whereas if we say we 100% behind the team going to Germany and we wanted to be there..we woulda had our tickets in had beforehand.

I never thought I would say this about a Naps man .... but hats off to you sir.

Between this, and MAXG's

1. The tickets should not and would not be for everybody. Tenor, poor man/man in the street cannot go Germany..one of the probs. in trini is many feel they should have everything everybody else have, regardless of their choices and stations in life..so when they doh have it, it ok to take it from somebody else, cause in Trini, why should dem have and we don't...eventually the youths in their developing minds, start elieving that crap...I living in Canada, sacrificed to get an education, freezin meh tail orf an  wukkin for the last 31 years, have a sizeable family yes, but married to a professional , and I can tell yuh now...ah doh know if ah would be able to afford a ticket to germany....ah not talking bout affording the time or anything else...jus finances....buh ah bussin meh tail some more tryin..

Finally someone seeing the light.

Football / In direct response to your claims of racism.
« on: December 25, 2005, 09:29:31 PM »
but when we have people like Rotato Poti and others who blindly support Mr. Warner based on political affiliation and issues of race (yes race, I said it), we are handcuffed even more.

To be fair sir, insinuating that I am some sort of racist by means of my support for Jack Warner's recognition based on his monetary support of the TT Mens' Sr. Team is outrageous.

Your vendetta against me started when I commented that Jack should be rewarded with the Trinity Cross, and if he was not, it would be because of HIS political affiliation with the UNC. Not mine - but his.
While it seems clear to the rational folk on the street, that the square off between Jack in the UNC corner and Roger in the PNM corner obviously has a political twist to it - and how that has escalated to all Jack "award backers" being profiled as bigots and racist is clearly a diversion on your part to hide your own insecure interests.

Apparently my echo of support for Jack must have set off some political bias in you and fired up your own forum backers who came out from even the badlands of Trincity to "bu'n out all of my type"

I'm not going to ask that you withdraw your comments - you're entitled to them, but I do ask that before you run off calling names, you actually think about your allegations.

FIFA IS AH COMPLETE MAFIA

Actually talking about Mafia, I'll be over by Frankie Knuckles neighbours this weekend - usually he shows up in the afternoon because he loves JW Blue. I'll ask him if he knows anyone named Sepp or Jack.

Ha Truetrini .. Merry Christmas to you too.

I still maintain my position on recognition for Jack Warner's unwavering  support of the Sr. Football Team. He put HIS money where his mouth is. That's not changing if that was what you would expect - so no stocking stuffers there for you.

However, I will give you a little trinket and voice my displeasure on the ticket monopoly. Well just like you - and the rest of the forumites, I do have to pay for my tickets regardless of all the "supposed" connections I have with the Warner's and TTFA ... F.   ;)
Hence, if push comes to shove in the next three weeks and the tickets I thought I would receive all of a sudden becomes unavailable, I will be forking over my USD $5K to sit in Category 2 type seats come next June.

Even though the WC is a unique experience, made moreso by our debut on the World footballing stage - the economics of the situation will show that demand will way outstrip supply - but given that we do live in a free market economy - it opens up avenues for businessmen to capitalise - something that yes, Jack Warner is shrewdly arranging and cleverly proceeding with. It also means that some consumers will be priced out of the market because other consumers are willing to pay a premium for consumption of that product, and thus prices will follow - that's from my book on common sense.

Thus, the question then becomes, how much is it worth to you to see TT play in Germany?
Are you willing to put aside bias and go regardless, even if it means paying a "criminal" price for tickets?

eBay and the rest of the ticket brokers and scalpers should be in prime form once the redistribution of TST is awarded - will Jack's ... umm Maureen's package seem more attractive at that point?

You and I are in a business where we see people refinance their homes to go to the Superbowl in February .... and that's a once a year opportunity.

But like the offical card of the World Cup states indeed, everything with Mastercard is priceless.

I just hope your list made it to Santa in time. I'm waiting up this year with all forms of bribes to trade for WC tickets.

^^

LOL .... you going to watch football .... or woman?

It might not be a bad thing if we qualify again and have more ticket drama. I wouldn't mind going without tickets - it have PLENTY to see other than the football.

Football / Atletico fined 6,000 euros for fans' racist abuse

Atletico fined 6,000 euros for fans' racist abuse

MADRID, Dec 21 (Reuters) - Atletico Madrid have been fined 6,000 euros ($7,132) by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) after a section of their fans hurled racial abuse at Espanyol goalkeeper Carlos Kameni in a league match last month.

Although the abuse was not noted in referee Arturo Dauden Ibanez's match report, the RFEF said it acted after a complaint from the government-run Anti-violence Commission which estimated that some 500 fans had been involved in the incidents.

Atletico, who were fined for similar offences last season, said that they had done everything in their power to stop the abuse.

Spain increased the punishments given to clubs for racist abuse in July and Primera Liga sides can now be fined between 6,000 and 18,000 euros depending on the number of fans involved and the action taken to deal with the incident.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter on Tuesday called for a tougher approach to the problem, including the possibility of docking points and excluding clubs from competitions for persistent breaches.

Separately, Kameni's club Espanyol have opened an investigation into the Cameroon international's complaints that he has been racially abused by some of the club's own fans in home matches.

"It's incredible that they jeer you in your own stadium," he told Spanish sports daily Sport on Tuesday.

"It is understandable if the fans complain when the team doesn't play well, but they can't do these racist acts again and again. I've had enough."

6000 Euros? .... are you kidding me?
First of all the RFEF encourages racism rather than thwarts it with their half hearted attempts to sweep the mess their fans created under the carpet.

Instead of 6000 Euros as a stiffer penalty, teams should be charged all the money from their gate receipts AND docked any points they picked up in that game. As a final nail in the coffin, they should also be mandated to play their next home game in front of an empty stadium. That is what I call a stiffer penalty.

Also, if FIFA wants to get serious, then they must follow through on Blatter's call and ban all these teams from European club competitions.

This is far worse than match-fixing and must be dealt with in an appropriate manner. If a player/ official can get banned for life for accepting money as part of a match-fixing arrangement, then those who racially abuse players must not get away with a slap on the wrist.

If teams cannot control their fans behaviour, then they dont deserve to have the so-called fans following them around.

6000 Euros is probably what each one of us will spend next summer in Europe. The RFEF is pure BS and I wish all their teams suffer in every competition until they straighten their program.

I just can't wait for the chants at the Stadium after we score on England.

How nice it will be to hear the deafening silence after the rendition of :

Can you hear the English sing?
No-o! No-o!
Can you hear the English sing?
No-o, no-o,
Can you hear the English sing?
I can’t hear a f**king thing,
No-o, no-o, no-o…!

2006 World Cup - Germany / Re: Fellas Relax Tickets will be easy to get
« on: December 15, 2005, 07:52:17 AM »
alright ... I don't know what the fuss is all about.
If you going to the WC .. just make sure that you know what your budget is.
It's just like going backpacking.

My plans are to fly into Spain a couple days before our first clash ..... use the Eurorail to Germany .... get there the day before and check into a hotel - OUTSIDE - of the town we're playing in. After that commuting should not be a problem ... neither should accomodation.
I'm not looking for 3, 4 or 5 star accomodation really .... a hostel will do. Use that as a base - and travel to all the other games from there.
You can do that solo or with a group if you like .... but don't go taking out loans or busting your life savings for this.

It's much more affordable that you think .... and NO, you don't need to spend $30K TT or $5K US to make it happen.

dred....i was thinking the same thing, but the only flaw in that theory is that match tickets are personalized....i.e. not transferrable unless you ask fifa to switch de name on the tickets, so men can't scalp tickets outside the stadium.....

From my understanding you CAN re-sell the tickets, but not above face value.

12
just go to your local Bank ... find a Chase or something and get a MasterCard gift card. Put enough money on it to pay for your tickets and voila.
Trouble done.

Biggest sporting upsets!!!!

heh ... my alma mater's #5 on that list.
However, the English Press has always been condescending to old colonies.
Have you ever read some of the articles on cricinfo.com?

From now til June, all we'll hear about is Yorke and his party attitude, and the bad example that he and Lara set as professionals .. blahsie blahsie.

This is just like Nov 16th again .... all we need is 1.

i had heard someting bout dat
so that is the final decision day Rotato Poti?

dunno about it being a final decision ... but I know that they were looking for a solution to avoiding further crowd trouble, and found that alot of games between bitter rivals that the disrespect of anthems just further riled up the opposign fans against each other.

that's taking hatred to a whole new level.

It would be bizzare if we were placed in that group ... only because I remember in Italia '90, the US were pitted against The Czechs in their first game and lost comprehensively ... 5-0 I believe the margin to be. I remember running thru my house every time the Czechs scored ... but still feeling bitter - saying that it should have been TT in the place of the US at those games.

Needless to say that even though all the hype goes to Spain and the Czechs in that group ... we have the chance to be the biggest upset team and shock either of them.

Xavi and Raul are currently injured, and Casillas (??RMs Keeper is a string up man) ... so who knows how they'll be in 6 months.

I am not sure but do they play the National anthems before every match. Then our should be done but Steel Pan. Red black and white should be the colors for fa\ns alike while here in Germany. Soca DJ's should come with their music arrangements can be made for places for them to play. I know a great deal of places.

Day in TTFF have to do this before EVERY game and hand out a pamphlet that gives a brief history of the Steelband AND the WORDS of the NATIONAL anthem.

Doesn't a FIFA ban go into place in Jan 2006 for a halt to all National Anthems being played before games after the Switzerland/ Turkey debacle?

I believe it is to be replaced by the FIFA "world" Anthem ... apparently something similar to the Olympic anthem model ... and following in the footsteps of the Champions League Anthem.

Actually, if the ban was placed on all National Anthems, it would be awesome if all the Trini fans in the stadium sang the anthem (standing at attention and no waving or eating hotdogs) after the lining up and presentation of the teams.

I saw that whenever the Scots and English square off, the English boo the Scots anthem, and the Scots in turn sing a traditional song that drowns out the English anthem. A little bit of hostility ... but I'm sure that it hypes up the players a whole lot more and gets the adrenalin pumping early on .... something that Trini teams are known to lack at the beginning of the games. Maybe we need to fire them up a bit.

I was just reading the post from the Falkirk prog writer and it seems as though the Scots already came up with a chant for us:

"Que sera sera, what ever will be will be .. we're going to Germany"

Other threads have addresed the Intercol chants ... and in Ato's bit, Rudder was quite evident as a supporter favourite.

I just want to make sure that I know every line and every remix for every song that we will be belting out in Germany.

What shall we be singing?

Bachannal Time?
Hammer?
Meh Lover?
Jean & Dinah?
